Saira Ali

Overview

Saira Ali is an early career researcher (PhD in 2019) with over 10 years of experience in the media industry. As Lecturer in Media and the Program Coordinator of the Master of Media (Strategic Communication) at the University of Adelaide, she currently teaches courses on media law and policy, digital promotion and management, risk & crisis communication, and media identities and professions. Saira’s research focuses on the mediatisation of risk, security, and othering; journalistic practices, censorship; emerging media; terrorism/counterterrorism and strategic communication. She has published in top-ranking academic journals such as International Communication Gazette, Global Media and Communication and Media International Australia, and is the co-author of Public Relations & Strategic Communications (Oxford University Press, 2019).
